Scarifying

Scarification is the process of removing excess thatch (the layer of dead grass and organic matter that builds up on your lawn).

Too much thatch blocks water, oxygen, and nutrients from reaching the roots and can create a home for pests and disease.

Why We Recommend It

Regular scarification keeps your lawn healthier, thicker, and greener by:

  • Improving water and nutrient penetration
  • Encouraging stronger root growth
  • Reducing the risk of pests, disease, and moss
  • Helping your lawn recover faster and look neater

How We Do It

We use specialised scarifying machines to carefully lift and remove the thatch layer without damaging the healthy grass. This is usually followed by a wetting agent and fertiliser application to help your lawn recover quickly.

Best Time for Scarification in Adelaide

The ideal time is during the warmer months, October to February, when your lawn can recover the fastest. For most lawns we recommend doing it at least every 2 years.

After scarification your lawn will look a little bare for 4 to 8 weeks, but it will bounce back stronger, greener, and healthier than before.

Scarification is available as an add-on service or can be included in any of our 12-month programs if requested.
